Rialto Beach: A Symphony of Stone and Sea Guide

Prepare to be awestruck by Rialto Beach, a dramatic and unforgettable stretch of coastline just north of La Push. Unlike sandy beaches, Rialto is covered in smooth, grey stones, creating a unique and mesmerizing landscape. Towering sea stacks punctuate the horizon, sculpted by the relentless power of the ocean. The constant roar of the waves, the cries of seabirds, and the sheer scale of the surroundings create a truly immersive experience. Rialto Beach is a place to feel small in the face of nature's grandeur. Like First Beach, Rialto Beach is part of the ancestral lands of the Quileute Tribe. While there aren't specific historical markers on the beach itself, the area holds deep cultural significance. The Quileute people have relied on the resources of the ocean and the surrounding forests for generations, and their connection to this land is palpable. As you explore Rialto Beach, remember to respect the environment and the history of the people who have called this place home for centuries. Rialto Beach offers a variety of activities for nature lovers. Hiking is a must, especially the trek north to Hole-in-the-Wall, a natural arch carved into the headland (check tide charts before attempting this hike). Beachcombing is also popular, with plenty of interesting stones and driftwood to discover. Kayaking is possible, but only for experienced paddlers due to the strong currents and unpredictable conditions. And of course, simply sitting and watching the waves crash against the shore is a perfectly acceptable way to spend your time. For a taste of local cuisine, head back to Forks for a variety of dining options.

Transportation
